The trapezoidal-shaped front features sharp-edged headlamps, wind-slipping aero corners for improved aerodynamics and an enlarged under grille, which all help create a unique design evolving from the current Prius. The exterior styling is sleek, rounded and bold, with an extended roofline that allows the vehicle to retain the triangular silhouette symbolic of Prius. It is a new vehicle designed from the ground up, with a shape that evolved from Prius rather than being an elongated version. With a balance between outstanding spaciousness, refined style, and smooth aerodynamics, Toyota Prius V has a low 0.29 coefficient of drag, which does not inhibit the vehicle's convenient packaging. Featuring a compact exterior yet spacious interior, the Toyota Prius V will feature over 50-percent more interior cargo space than the current Prius. It will share the current generation Prius' platform and Hybrid Synergy Drive technology. I suppose if you listened to a lot of heavy metal, or other very bass heavy material at loud volumes, the bass blockers would help save your speakers. The new Toyota Prius V, with "v" expressing the vehicle's versatility, will meet the needs of growing families with active lifestyles while providing the same attributes traditionally found in the Prius DNA. Calling Crutchfield and talking to them really helped. (I chose the 600hz because I saw that value first.) More looking on their website confused me more because I then saw that there were other values. Crutchfield's customer service made the recommendation, rather than the 600hz I had chosen. I am sure there is a lot of engineering involved to determine what is the appropriate value to use with a given speaker.

This P35b has a lower limit of 90hz and we don't want to try to make it a full range speaker as it might get damaged by putting too much bass through such a small speaker. They simply get put in the positive line before the speaker. So they limit the speaker response below that frequency. In this case, they are 150, 300 and 600 (hertz). The bass blockers are a filter that limits the bass to a speaker. It's the best $40 and an hour of work ever spent. I changed my balance setting slightly and reduced the bass and midrange to 1 notch to the right of center. There is more apparent volume from the rear door speakers.

It has moved more toward the driver and passenger. Now there is much more fullness, midrange, and more importantly, the sound field is more balanced. Anyway, I just installed the speakers and Crutchfield recommended the 150hz bass blockers. I am still thinking of a new floating display head unit so I can get CarPlay, etc. For a long time I wanted just to get a new head unit, figuring that the JBL engineers had done the right thing, like designed the system. A long time ago, probably on another JBL complaint thread, I said that the balance or integration between the dash speakers and the front door speakers was really bad. My 2013 RAV4 Limited, with the super premium JBL sound system, NEVER sounded good. I ordered the Sound Ordinance P-35B's for the dash speakers. Well, I finally got off my a** and took the plunge. Just be sure they use low efficiency speakers. If you don't want to do it yourself, it would be a quick job for a car stereo shop. Tools were a 10mm ratchet, a plastic trim tool for the speaker grills, pliers for the scotch locks, scissors to trim the baffles, and an exacto knife to cut holes in the baffles for the speaker bolts and wires. I used red Scotch Locks for the wiring so I could easily reinstall the stock speakers if needed. The sound is now what it should have been. I had not realized just how bad the stock speakers were. The musical detail is also greatly improved. I no-longer have the bass all the way up with the mids all the way down. The new speakers have transformed the system. I had to put my ear to it to be sure it was playing. After hooking up the first speaker I turned the system on and the new speaker was much quieter than the stock speaker. Not sure if they help, but the thought was they might keep some sound from bouncing around inside the dash. Most 3.5 speakers seem to have an efficiency rating around 90db. They are 4 ohm speakers with an 84db efficiency rating. I used Sound Ordinance P-35B speakers from Crutchfield. I thought that using the least efficient 3.5" speakers I could find might fix the problem. Basically the dash speakers are just too loud compared with the other speakers.

Like many others, I was unhappy with the sound quality.
